Whitehorse International Airport Project
Phase I, Whitehorse, Yukon, 2007
The vehicle parking lot and access construction was the responsibility of Norcope. The project scope included stripping, common excavation, sub grade and granular source development, preparation of granular sub-base and base course, installation of manholes, catch basins, storm sewer and sub drains, construction of concrete barrier curbing, gutter and sidewalk, hot mix asphalt pavement and asphalt overlay, electrical works and landscaping. The project cost was $1.5 million CAD, finished within 4 months.
The trickiest part of this project was not interrupting traffic flow from the airport terminal building to the existing parking lot during construction. Norcope overcome this by stage construction, with temporary fencing.
